The good people who learnt JS deeply before us have created some nice tools that we can use from the comfort of our PHP, without venturing (much) into the realm of package managers, build processes, compilers, frontend frameworks and other newfangled creatures. And still create beautiful and functional things.

Understanding Web Vitals

Web Vitals is an initiative by Google to help site owners improve user experiences. Moreover, it's an effort to simplify the metrics landscape. Easier Plugin Development Using Boilerplates

Portrait of Adejoke Haastrup Adejoke Haastrup Software Developer, Sendbox Technologies

WordPress Plugins are a vital part of WordPress that help to radically transform any site. This means developing your own custom plugins a powerful skill to learn.

With so many ways to build a plugin it can be hard to know where to begin. In this session we will focus on creating and using boilerplates to improve your development experience.

A boilerplate will help you easily understand plugin folder structuring, where to include your functions, and what to do next. It is, without a doubt, one of the easiest ways to begin your journey developing plugins for WordPress.

Fixing Fraud and Improving SEO with Blockchain

Portrait of Sebastiaan van der Lans Sebastiaan van der Lans Founder & CEO, WordProof.io

The internet has a deep-rooted trust issue. How do consumers know whether the information presented by websites can be trusted? How can website owners claim ownership over their content?

In 1991, blockchain was invented for timestamping documents. With a timestamp, you can prove that you didn’t tamper with your content. With timestamps, your readers, buyers, and search engines can prove your integrity. How are WordPress and blockchain timestamps building blocks for a better internet today? Is it too late to fix the broken web?

With his enthusiasm, Sebastiaan takes you on a 20-minute journey showing how we can truly fix the broken web with open-source code and community, together ❤️

What Community Events Taught Me About Business

Portrait of Patricia Brun Torre Patricia Brun Torre Owner, Virtuaza

After several years organising WordPress meetups and WordCamps, as well as participating as a speaker, volunteer or sponsor, I learned about the human values of acceptance and inclusion in the WordPress community.

I learned to work with people very different than me. I learned new ways to work in a team and important take-aways for inclusion in everyday life as well.

I want to share my own experiences and how they helped improve my business and personal life, both inside and outside the WordPress ecosystem. If you are in a WordPress-related business – whether that's in agency, plugin development, hosting, you name it – this will be beneficial to you.

This will help you build trust and rapport, meet future clients and business partners, and see how your peers do work and share ideas. Best of all, all of this occurs in a non-competitive and very friendly environment. By the time we're finished, I want to inspire you to join the nearby WordPress meetup group (or create one if it doesn't exist) and enjoy the inspiring interactions.

How I Built "How Do You Tech"

Portrait of Mary Job Mary Job Support Engineer, Paid Memberships Pro

I registered HowDoYou.Tech when I decided to port from being a Freelancer running a WordPress Website Agency business to a professional. So I got the business names registered, and only one thing was at the back of my mind while I did all these, and it was to keep doing WordPress. So in this talk, I will share how I got to achieve my company goals using WordPress, the tools (plugins & themes) we use, the solutions we came up with, how we kept iterating and are still doing so, the challenges we faced, and important points to note I believe would be useful for any other person out there about to launch their website design agency business with WordPress.
